Our annual Spring Heritage Pecan and Wine Festival will sponsor a Pecan Pie Contest again this year. Prizes will be awarded. Contest will be held in the Ramada by the Soccer Field on Sunday, at 11AM, March 18th. Criteria: Homemade Pecan Pies only, made with local ingredients and only one pie entry per category per person. Pies will be judged on: Overall appearance, Taste, Creativity, and use of Local Ingredients.
There will be two categories this year traditional and non-traditional but both must contain pecans in or on the pie. Pie containers should be throw away or must be picked up by 1pm. A list of ingredients must accompany pie (not the recipe) in case of allergies. Entries must be delivered by 9am to the Ramada.
The Sixth Annual Verde River Runoff is a five or ten-mile race on the beautiful Verde River in Camp Verde, Arizona presented by the Friends of the Verde River. Friends of the Verde River works collaboratively to restore habitat, sustain flows and promote community stewardship to support a healthy Verde River system.
Location: Boater check in begins at 7am at White Bridge River Access Point in Camp Verde, just off of Highway 260. This is also the starting point for the 10-mile race. The end of the race is at Beasley Flat, a U.S. Forest Service Recreation Area.
The 5-mile race starting point is located at the Clear Creek RAP. The river difficulty is class I-II. This event is made possible through a special use permit from the Prescott National Forest
Race start time: Starts will begin at 10 am, March 17th 2018 and should be completed no later than 3pm.
Please note that there is no available parking at either RAP on the morning of the race. There will be limited roadside parking near White Bridge. Shuttles will be provided from Beasley Flat to starting locations.
The River difficulty is class 1-11. Participants must be 12 years of age or older. Any paddler under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
